While many Americans were going to the polls to vote in the 2020 election, some were also turning to Scripture.<\/p>\n

According to Bible Gateway, 16 passages saw a significant jump in English language Bible searches on Nov. 3-4, 2020 compared to last year.<\/p>\n

Some are expected verses. It is not unusual for Americans to seek out verses about national repentance and restoration like 2 Chronicles 7:14 or those dealing with Christians\u2019 responsibilities toward the government like Romans 13:1.<\/p>\n

Other passages are surprising and possibly unrelated to the political happenings in the U.S.<\/p>\n

Here are the 16 passages that saw the biggest increase over 2019 searches:<\/p>\n

  2. Psalm 1 \u2014 2,613% increase<\/li>\n
  3. Matthew 25:1-13 \u2014 1,150% increase<\/li>\n

  5. 2 Chronicles 7:14 \u2014 329% increase<\/li>\n
  6. Genesis 10 \u2014 252% increase<\/li>\n
  7. James 1:2-4 \u2014 191% increase<\/li>\n
  8. Psalm 2 \u2014 159% increase<\/li>\n
  9. Genesis 9 \u2014 158% increase<\/li>\n
  10. Daniel 2 \u2014 124% increase<\/li>\n
  11. Psalm 37 \u2014 93% increase<\/li>\n
  12. Psalm 91 \u2014 90% increase<\/li>\n
  13. Romans 13:1 \u2014 87% increase<\/li>\n
  14. Genesis 12 \u2014 61% increase<\/li>\n
  15. Romans 13 \u2014 52% increase<\/li>\n
