{"id":31403,"date":"2022-09-10T15:28:58","date_gmt":"2022-09-10T20:28:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/pastor-dies-immediately-after-easter-sermon-on-resurrection-hope\/"},"modified":"2022-09-10T15:28:58","modified_gmt":"2022-09-10T20:28:58","slug":"pastor-dies-immediately-after-easter-sermon-on-resurrection-hope","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/pastor-dies-immediately-after-easter-sermon-on-resurrection-hope\/","title":{"rendered":"Pastor Dies Immediately After Easter Sermon on Resurrection Hope"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-image size-full wp-image-100678 is-style-default\">Facebook screen capture<\/div>\n<p><em>By Aaron Earls<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On Easter Sunday, Earl \u201cBuddy\u201d Duggins was doing what he has been for more than five decades\u2014preaching the gospel.<\/p>\n<p>But his message on April 12 to those watching the livestream of Forest Home Baptist Church (FHBC) in Kilgore, Texas, was different from all the rest; it was his last.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after preaching about the resurrection hope of Easter, Duggins died of a heart attack.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith a heart of greatest compassion, he came to the pulpit prepared and delivered a sure, powerful, and good word from God,\u201d Mark Fried, minister of music at FHBC, told the <em>Tyler Morning Telegraph<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Fried said Duggins \u201cwas not just my pastor, he was my friend.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class='code-block code-block-1' style='margin: 8px 0;clear: both'> <\/div>\n<p>In his more than 55 years of ministry, Duggins preached in over 450 revival services in 10 states. Prior to FHBC, he served as pastor of First Baptist Church of Winnsboro, Texas, for 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>He closed his last sermon with a personal testimony of struggling to cope with his wife\u2019s death less than three months earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Duggins shared how he cried himself to sleep for several days after losing his wife of almost 60 years.<\/p>\n<p>He said the couple had wanted to \u201cgo together,\u201d so he kept asking God why he was left here.<\/p>\n<p>Duggins, who turned 81 last September, said God impressed His answer on His heart, \u201cI\u2019ve left you here to do nothing more than preach the gospel of Jesus Christ you\u2019ve been preaching for 55 years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So the pastor began to do just that:<\/p>\n<p>I stand today, this resurrection day to tell you, \u201cJesus Christ is alive.\u201d He has helped me. He has blessed me. I bless His holy name today. All for Jesus. He\u2019s the true, living Savior. He\u2019s alive. He was born of the virgin. He lived a perfect life. He was crucified out on Mount Calvary, put in a borrowed tomb, but on the third day\u2014on God\u2019s schedule\u2014up from the grave He arose. And He lives to help us. And He lives as our blessed hope. Trust Him today.
