Since then, he said he has prayed God would redeem that situation. Now he faces his former team in the biggest game of the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d always pray, from that moment, to redeem me in such a way to glorify Him,\u201d Cooks said after the Rams\u2019 NFC Championship win. \u201cAnd I think He\u2019s doing that.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class='code-block code-block-1' style='margin: 8px 0;clear: both'> <\/div>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Lord it is not by accident! Year later your glory shines again!<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Brandin Cooks (@brandincooks) January 21, 2019<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Rams offensive lineman Rodger Saffold said his relationship with Christ this season has been the closest it has ever been. As he grew in his faith, Saffold and his wife decided to get baptized a few weeks ago in punter Johnny Hekker\u2019s pool.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe knew this was the next step, it was the next step I decided on my own to do just with my faith,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>On the other sideline, several Patriot players recently spoke about their faith and how it motivates them on and off the field.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear:both;margin-top:0em;margin-bottom:1em\">\n<div class=\"centered-text-area\">\n<div class=\"centered-text\" style=\"float: left\">\n<div class=\"udd6f67cdfea50d1f62e74e3976b0bc7e-content\">See also&nbsp; What Churches Must Do to Reach Gen Z<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ctaButton\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Rookie running back Sony Michel has been a big part of the Patriots returning to the Super Bowl, scoring five touchdowns in the playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>Despite his football success, Michel told <em>Sports Spectrum<\/em>, \u201cWithout Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, there is none of this. We get all this glory, but the glory is not for us. It\u2019s for Him. We do this for Him. That\u2019s kind of my purpose. So really, none of this matters to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Patriots special teams captain Matthew Slater is the son of Jackie Slater, seven-time Pro Bowler for the Los Angeles and St. Louis Rams.<\/p>\n<p>Facing his dad\u2019s former team on Sunday gives Slater another opportunity to continue the legacy of faith he learned from Jackie when he calls the coin toss before the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n<p>Both father and son always call heads.
