{"id":32325,"date":"2022-09-10T16:05:09","date_gmt":"2022-09-10T21:05:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/christian-persecution-worsens-around-the-globe\/"},"modified":"2022-09-10T16:05:09","modified_gmt":"2022-09-10T21:05:09","slug":"christian-persecution-worsens-around-the-globe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/christian-persecution-worsens-around-the-globe\/","title":{"rendered":"Christian Persecution Worsens Around the Globe"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\">Jimmy Chan photo &#8211; Pexels <\/p>\n<p><em>By Aaron Earls<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In the past year, the number of Christians experiencing severe persecution increased by around 14 percent, according to Open Doors\u2019 2019 World Watch List.<\/p>\n<p>Open Doors, a ministry focused on global persecution awareness and aid, releases a persecution watch list each year reporting on the top 50 countries where Christians are suffering for their faith.<\/p>\n<p>In the last year, the number of Christians experiencing high levels of persecution climbed 30 million to 245 million. In total, 1 in 9 Christians experiences high levels of persecution.<\/p>\n<p>During their most recent reporting period, 4,136 Christians were killed for their faith, which means an average of 11 Christians are martyred every day. In addition, 2,625 Christians were imprisoned without trial and 1,266 churches or Christian buildings were attacked.<\/p>\n<p>The report lists five trends in global persecution.<\/p>\n<div class='code-block code-block-1' style='margin: 8px 0;clear: both'> <\/div>\n<p><strong>1. Shocking persecution against Christian women<\/strong>. \u201cIn many places, they experience a \u2018double persecution\u2019\u2014one for being a Christian and one for being a woman,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven in the most restricted circumstances, gender-specific persecution is a key means of destroying the minority Christian community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Islamic oppression continues to impact millions.<\/strong> In seven of the top 10 nations on the World Watch List, the primary cause of persecution is Islamic oppression.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Two most populous nations rise on the list.<\/strong> \u201cFor the first time since the start of the World Watch List, India has entered the top 10,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdditionally, China jumped 16 spots, from 43 to 27.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Spread of radical Islam across sub-Saharan Africa.<\/strong> ISIS-inspired groups have sprung up across the continent, including one that broke away from Nigeria\u2019s Boko Haram \u201cthat also enslaves Christian women and girls as an integral part of their strategy.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear:both;margin-top:0em;margin-bottom:1em\">\n<div class=\"centered-text-area\">\n<div class=\"centered-text\" style=\"float: left\">\n<div class=\"u0ca06e84642dbad6ad7229b85dd14390-content\">See also&nbsp; What Do Churchgoers Want to Change About Their Churches?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ctaButton\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>5.
