China is cracking down on Christianity and even Christmas displays.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, a prominent pastor was one of 100 Christians detained by authorities. Wang Yi, pastor of Early Rain Covenant Church, was arrested on allegations of \u201cinciting subversion of state power,\u201d according to CNN.<\/p>\n<p>Despite their pastor and other leaders being arrested, members of Early Rain came to their church building Sunday morning to worship only to find the gate locked and police blocking all the entrances, according to <em>World<\/em> magazine.<\/p>\n<p>Several dozen members then held a service in a nearby park. Police shut down the service and arrested close to 60 worshippers on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Wang wrote a \u201cdeclaration\u201d that was to be published and distributed if he was incarcerated for more than 48 hours.<\/p>\n<div class='code-block code-block-1' style='margin: 8px 0;clear: both'> <\/div>\n<p>In it, he said he is \u201cfilled with anger and disgust at the persecution of the church by this Communist regime,\u201d but submits to their authority because they are \u201cthe authorities God has established in China.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wang said he is not engaging in political activism because he doesn\u2019t \u201chave the intention of changing any institutions or laws in China.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued: \u201cAs a pastor, my disobedience is one part of the gospel commission. Christ\u2019s great commission requires of us great disobedience. The goal of disobedience is not to change the world but to testify about another world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wang even said he is unconcerned about when China\u2019s policy of persecution toward the church will change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegardless of which regime I live under now or in the future, as long as the secular government continues to persecute the church, violating human consciences that belong to God alone, I will continue my faithful disobedience,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear:both;margin-top:0em;margin-bottom:1em\">\n<div class=\"centered-text-area\">\n<div class=\"centered-text\" style=\"float: left\">\n<div class=\"uc74a75b9df59b835f4d0919fb3291de7-content\">See also&nbsp; What Do Churchgoers Want to Change About Their Churches?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ctaButton\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cFor the entire commission God has given me is to let more Chinese people know through my actions that the hope of humanity and society is only in the redemption of Christ, in the supernatural, gracious sovereignty of God.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to arresting Christians and pastors, Chinese government officials are confiscating Christmas decorations.<\/p>\n<p>Bob Fu, president of China Aid, tweeted that anything related to Christmas is \u201cordered off the streets, businesses and schools.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"zh\" dir=\"ltr\">On Dec. 15 China formally declared war against Christmas and Santa Claus(seriously). Officials said it was not targeting Christmas but was rather designed to \u201cmaintain a clean environment for an upcoming awards competition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stores are forbidden from displaying posters about Christmas sales.
