While viral videos have expressed the impossible longing for the famous chicken sandwiches on Sundays, the company remains resolute.<\/p>\n<p> [epq-quote align=&#8221;align-right&#8221;]Virtually nothing can cause Chick-fil-A to serve up nuggets and waffle fries on their day off. But on a few special Sundays, employees heat up the fryers to help their neighbors.[\/epq-quote]\u201cHaving worked seven days a week in restaurants open 24 hours, Truett saw the importance of closing on Sundays so that he and his employees could set aside one day to rest and worship if they choose\u2014a practice we uphold today,\u201d the company says on their website.<\/p>\n<p>Virtually nothing can cause Chick-fil-A to serve up nuggets and waffle fries on their day off. But on a few special Sundays, employees heat up the fryers to help their neighbors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile Chick-fil-A restaurants are always closed for business on Sunday, some local restaurant teams volunteer to serve their communities in times of crisis,\u201d a Chick-fil-A spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<div class='code-block code-block-1' style='margin: 8px 0;clear: both'> <\/div>\n<p>Here are four instances when local Chick-fil-A restaurants have opened on a Sunday.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>2018 \u2014 Hurricane Florence<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Donovan and Nikki Carless along with employees at their Chick-fil-A location outside Raleigh, North Carolina, decided to do something to help during Hurricane Florence.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, Sept. 16, they prepared and donated 500 sandwiches and 1,200 nuggets to rescue teams from five states and evacuees at three local shelters.<\/p>\n<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-post\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/cfatriangletowncenter\/posts\/10156838399192386\" data-width=\"500\">\n<p>Grateful for an AWESOME team that not only have hearts for serving our guests everyday but have hearts for serving the community as well!<\/p>\n<p>Posted by Chick-fil-A Triangle Town Center on&nbsp;Sunday, September 16, 2018<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<h3><strong>2017 \u2014\u00a0Atlanta airport<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>With the power out indefinitely and thousands of people stranded in Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Sunday, December 17, 2017, Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed made an emergency phone call\u2014to Chick-fil-A.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear:both;margin-top:0em;margin-bottom:1em\">\n<div class=\"centered-text-area\">\n<div class=\"centered-text\" style=\"float: left\">\n<div class=\"u74499fe4c07df6cc16a927b6d81f4214-content\">See also&nbsp; 3 Practical Steps for Reaching the Mission Field in Your Neighborhood<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ctaButton\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Company spokeswoman Amanda Hannah said employees \u201cimmediately mobilized\u201d and delivered free food to an emergency operations center to be distributed to passengers stuck in the world\u2019s busiest airport.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>2016 \u2014 Orlando shooting<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Following a mass shooting at an Orlando nightclub that left 49 people dead and 53 others wounded, employees at a nearby Chick-fil-A came in on Sunday, June 12, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>They donated food to first responders at the club and to people donating blood to the victims.<\/p>\n<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-post\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/cfaleevista\/posts\/1021364751246328\" data-width=\"500\">\n<p>A few members of our awesome team decided to go into work on a Sunday and make some food for people waiting in line to donate blood. We love our city and love the people in our community. #prayfororlando<\/p>\n<p>Posted by Chick-fil-A Lee Vista on&nbsp;Sunday, June 12, 2016<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<h3><strong>2015 \u2014 Dallas tornados<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>After storms ripped through north Texas near Dallas, Chick-fil-A employees opened up their restaurant on Sunday, December 27, 2015 to provide free sandwiches and other food to tornado victims and first responders.<\/p>\n<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-post\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=10153857761774516&amp;set=a.10150177316579516&amp;type=1&amp;theater\" data-width=\"500\">\n<p>This morning Chick-fil-A is breaking their own rule and cooking on a Sunday.
