Well, it was a couple of years ago, but I guess the hype wore down,&nbsp;the shine wore off, and the champions&nbsp;wore out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">Now it&#8217;s just a sad trail&nbsp;of broken links.&nbsp;Be that as it may,&nbsp;few groups out there are as missionally essential&nbsp;and as massively overlooked (unless something&#8217;s gone wrong, in which case&nbsp;we&nbsp;are the first to hear about it) as pastors&#8217; wives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">The gal married to your shepherd finds herself in a unique and difficult place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">I find the desire to invest in&nbsp;ministry wives both conspicuously absent&nbsp;and incredibly refreshing.&nbsp;A while ago, I received a text from a lovely friend asking how she could &#8220;bless and more adequately care for [her] church staff wives.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">I did a happy heart dance after recovering from the shock and then flooded her with more ideas than anyone could hope to implement at a sane pace.&nbsp;I&#8217;ll pass those along to you&nbsp;with other resources you might find helpful in loving on these ladies.<\/p>\n<div class='code-block code-block-1' style='margin: 8px 0;clear: both'> <\/div>\n<p class=\"font_8\">Let&#8217;s bring this month and the women it represents back out into the daylight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">First, read through these eye-opening resources to&nbsp;glimpse reality for&nbsp;the woman married to ministry:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"font_8\">\n<li>Christianity Today&#8217;s\u00a0&#8220;Being a Pastor&#8217;s Wife Is Good for Faith, Bad for Friendship&#8221; <\/li>\n<li> Thom Rainer&#8217;s\u00a0&#8220;10 Unfair Expectations of Pastors&#8217; Wives&#8221; <\/li>\n<li> Church Leaders&#8217;\u00a0&#8220;Pastor, Remember Your Wife is the Most Vulnerable Person in Your Church&#8220;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"font_8\">Then pick a couple of these practical ways to love on any ministry wife:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"font_8\">\n<li>Pray for her. This\u00a0prayer challenge\u00a0by Revive Our Hearts is the best I&#8217;ve encountered. <\/li>\n<li>Connect with\u00a0her. A\u00a0relaxed get-together\u00a0for tea one afternoon, a\u00a0note that says you&#8217;re thankful for her\u00a0and cheering her\u00a0on, a shoutout\u00a0on Facebook, a warm smile and a hug,\u00a0even just pausing in the church hallway long enough to hear if she&#8217;s\u00a0not\u00a0fine. (Note: create\u00a0conversation that will\u00a0feel non-invasive and loving. Don&#8217;t ask her\u00a0to\u00a0share her\u00a0most private thoughts or inside perspective of\u00a0other church members. Just be a safe, life-giving space to let her\u00a0hair down.) <\/li>\n<li>Splurge on her. Gift cards for date nights with babysitters provided, a massage, simple presents, a bouquet of flowers, pedicures, little spa day kits,\u00a0whatever your budget might\u00a0allow. <\/li>\n<li>Resource her. If you&#8217;re aware of a small group\/retreat\/Bible study for ministry wives in your area,\u00a0environments\u00a0where she\u00a0can ditch the need to perform, pass along that information. If cost is an obstacle, help out financially as much as you can or get creative on fundraising. <\/li>\n<li>Champion\u00a0her.
