Game for Tweens continues groundbreaking approach to retelling the Bible as a Steampunk adventure<\/em><\/p>\n

Struggling to get your kids to engage with Scripture? Point-and-click game The Aetherlight<\/em> continues to draw Tweens into its allegorical adventure with the third episode, \u201cThe Resistance Melts Down.\u201d The Aetherlight: Chronicles of the Resistance<\/em> retells the epic stories of Scripture in a steampunk world filled with quests, puzzles, crafting and more.<\/p>\n

Tim Cleary, a former youth minister who wrote the story behind the game, expressed amazement at the game\u2019s response from players and their families. \u201cWe set out to create an experience that retells the stories of Scripture in a way that resonates with 21st century kids,\u201d he says. \u201cThat mission is far from over, but we are well on our way!\u201d<\/p>\n

In the third episode, players explore the vast tundra of the Snowmoors as they face the threat of a global catastrophe. Players will need all their courage and cleverness to uncover the secret of the Snowmoors while dealing with rogue automaton monsters, agents and a cast of new characters with their own plans.<\/p>\n

Other features include study activities that explore the stories, contexts and meanings of the Scriptures. Players are challenged to embrace the messages and find ways to incorporate it into their daily lives.<\/p>\n

As children progress through the game, their parents are sent emails that share what their child has learned. These offer opportunities to discuss matters of faith and life as a family.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs young people complete the quest, parents are brought into the equation through emails,\u201d Cleary explains, \u201ctelling them what the kids are experiencing, and giving discussion starters.\u201d<\/p>\n

He encourages parents and ministers to grab an account and play along with the young people in their world. \u201cFor us,\u201d he says, \u201cthere are few things cooler than knowing that people are experiencing this world together!\u201d<\/p>\n

The game\u2019s strong biblical themes has led to partnerships between Scarlet City Studios, which created the game, and the American Bible Society and World Vision. There\u2019s even a companion Bible, The Aetherlight Bible<\/em> (Tyndale House), to help players and their families build upon the bridge between the game\u2019s allegory and the words of Scripture.<\/p>\n
