In the midst of our concern about the Millennial generation, something interesting is happening: They are starting to get married and have children.<\/p>\n
According to an article in the Aug. 13, 2015, issue of The Wall Street Journal<\/em>, now that the majority of Millennials (born between 1980 and 2000) are reaching their mid-20s and early 30s, they are opting for marriage. Unlike the preceding generation, most of their children are being born within a marriage relationship.<\/p>\n Based on emerging trends, “For births in the year 2015, 59 percent of children born to this generation will have married parents, according to Demographic Intelligence’s forecast, and that share ultimately will rise to around 77 percent (in) the next 10 years.” Further research shows “that only about 25 percent of those between 25 and 34 will remain unmarried,” suggesting “the vast majority of millennials will eventually tie the knot.”<\/p>\n That’s a reminder to today’s church leaders that life changes, such as marriage and the birth of children, offer a critical opportunity for churches to reach out to serve and connect with this generation.
