Jesus was asked which commandment was the greatest. This was His answer, “You shall love the Lord your God <\/strong>with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself<\/strong>. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law <\/strong>and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40 (ESV)<\/p>\n

Thus God's Law of Love summarizes and fulfills all the Ten Commandments<\/strong>. We are to love God supremely and to love each other as ourselves. <\/p>\n

Jesus even added a new commandment <\/strong>of love. Here Jesus stressed the importance of loving other believers when He instructed, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you<\/strong>, that you also love one another.” John 13:34 (NKJV) <\/p>\n

This commandment goes beyond <\/strong>loving our neighbor as ourselves. Just as Jesus died for us, we should be willing to die for each other<\/strong>. 1 John 3:14, 16 (NKJV), 14 “We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren… 16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us<\/strong>. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Therefore, the Ten Commandments definitely guide and benefit Christians. Furthermore, we should be willing to lay down our lives to serve the brethren and to glorify God.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
