A building has an architect. Then he employs a master workman to actually build the structure. Even though the architect does not lift a hammer in the construction process, people the credit the structure as belonging to the architect. No one even knows the name of the chief builder. <\/p>\n

In the Bible, God is the great architect of His plan<\/strong> for mankind. He is called the Savior because it is His plan. Isaiah 43:11 (ESV), “I, I am the LORD, and besides me there is no savior.” God determined to save mankind from sin and death even before the world was created. He planned to save mankind “with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. He (Christ<\/em>) was foreknown before the foundation of the world<\/strong> but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you.” 1 Peter 1:19-20 (ESV).<\/p>\n

Proverbs 8:30 identifies Jesus<\/strong>, in His prehuman existence, as the master workman of God<\/strong>. Proverbs 8:22-23, 27, 30-31 (ESV),  "The LORD possessed me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of old<\/strong>. 23 Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth. … 27 When he established the heavens, I was there; when he drew a circle on the face of the deep, … 30 then I was beside him, like a master workman<\/strong>, and I was daily his delight, rejoicing before him always, 31 rejoicing in his inhabited world and delighting in the children of man.”<\/p>\n

There are many prophecies about Jesus in the Old Testament. His birth is foretold in Isaiah 7:14 (ESV), “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive <\/strong>and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel<\/strong>.”  Jesus was to be born in Bethlehem. “But you, O Bethlehem<\/strong> Ephrathah,…from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel<\/strong>, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.” Micah 5:2 (ESV).<\/p>\n

Jesus spent his youth in Nazareth. Matthew 2:23 (ESV), “And he went and lived in a city called Nazareth<\/strong>, so that what was spoken by the prophets <\/strong>might be fulfilled, that he would be called a Nazarene.” Nazareth means branch<\/strong>. The Old Testament scriptures call Jesus the Branch. “Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch<\/strong>, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.” Jeremiah 23:5 (ESV).<\/p>\n

Jesus’s life of sacrificing His humanity for mankind is prophesied in Isaiah 53:3, 5 (ESV), “He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;… 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
