Some statements were prophesied in the Old Testament.

1. “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do,” Luke 23:34. Jesus is teaching that those who have crucified him (Jesus) are not guilty of eternal sin or second death. “People will be forgiven for all sins and whatever blasphemies they utter. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin.” Mark 3:28,29 (CSB)

2. “Truly, I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise,” Luke 23:43 (CSB). Our Lord did not go to Paradise that day, but went to the tomb. He was raised on the third day. There are no commas in the Greek text. Punctuation was invented around 1515 AD. Placing the comma after “today” clarifies the text’s meaning. “Truly, I tell you today (now), you will be with me in Paradise”–at My second coming, when the Kingdom of Heaven shall be established in the earth.

3. “Jesus said to his mother: ‘Woman, this is your son.’ Then he said to the disciple: ‘This is your mother.’” John 19:26-27 This reminds us of Jesus’ words in Matthew 12:48-50 (NIV2011) “‘Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?’ Pointing to his disciples, he said, ‘Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.’”

4. “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Matthew 27:46, Mark 15:34. Jesus’ words were prophesied in Psalm 22:1 (NIV2011) My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?” Why? Because He was bearing our punishment. Isaiah 53:4-7, “Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities…the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

5. “I thirst,” John 19:28 fulfills the prophecy in Psalm 69:21, “They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.”

6. “He said, ‘It is finished:’ and he bowed his head, and gave up his spirit,’” John 19:30 (ASV). We are reminded of 1 Peter 3:18 (NASB), “Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit.”

7. “Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, ‘Father, into your hands I commit my spirit,’” Luke 23:46 (ESV). We remember the prophecy in Psalm 31:4-5 (ESV), “you take me out of the net they have hidden for me, for you are my refuge, Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me, O LORD, faithful God.”

For a more detailed study of Jesus and how He died to save every man, woman, and child, download the free PDF: "Jesus: The World's Savior"

The question refers to the seven last statements that Jesus made while on the cross.
