{"id":35977,"date":"2022-09-13T12:36:12","date_gmt":"2022-09-13T17:36:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/what-is-the-significance-of-the-last-supper-to-the-believer\/"},"modified":"2022-09-13T12:36:12","modified_gmt":"2022-09-13T17:36:12","slug":"what-is-the-significance-of-the-last-supper-to-the-believer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/what-is-the-significance-of-the-last-supper-to-the-believer\/","title":{"rendered":"What is the significance of the Last Supper to the believer?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"post-content\">\n<p>The last supper was the only event that Jesus asked his followers to annually celebrate:&nbsp; &quot;The Lord Jesus took a<strong> loaf <\/strong>and after thanking God he broke it, saying, &#039;This<strong> means my body broken for you<\/strong>.&nbsp;<strong> Do this<\/strong> in memory of me.&#039;&nbsp; In the same way he took the<strong> cup<\/strong> after supper, saying, &#039;This <strong>cup means the new covenant ratified by my blood<\/strong>; as often as you drink it, <strong>do it<\/strong> in memory of me.&#039; &quot;&nbsp; I Corinthians 11:24, 25&nbsp; Moffatt Translation<\/p>\n<p>The remembrance of the Lord&#039;s supper celebrates the <strong>one and only time Jesus died for the sin of all mankind<\/strong>, guaranteeing their resurrection.&quot;For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, He cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over Him.&nbsp; The death He died, He died to sin once for all, but the life He lives to God.&quot;&nbsp; Romans 6:9, 10 (NIV)<\/p>\n<p>Partaking of these symbols also shows the unity of the body of Christ. The Apostle Paul wrote, &quot;The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the <strong>communion (<em>common union<\/em>) of the blood of Christ<\/strong>? The bread which we break, is it not the <strong>communion (<em>common union<\/em>) of the body of Christ<\/strong>?
