Lucifer (or Satan) spoke through the serpent. Why would Lucifer lie? Isaiah 14:12-14 (NKJV), “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground,…you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne<\/strong> above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above<\/strong> the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High<\/strong>.’”<\/p>\n

Lucifer wanted power and a kingdom. He wanted to be a king over mankind. God never gave him that position, so he tried to usurp God’s position.<\/strong> He knew if Adam and Eve sinned, they would be cast out of the Garden of Eden. He knew they would be alienated from God<\/strong>. He knew they and all of their children would die, but he didn’t care. He wanted power. So he lied.<\/p>\n

Jesus identified the devil as the father of lies. John 8:44 (ESV), “…He was a murderer from the beginning<\/strong>, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him<\/strong>. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Our lesson is to obey and to humble<\/strong> ourselves before Jehovah God. Even when we may not understand why, let us always remember Jesus’s words in the Garden of Gethsemane, “not my will, but Thine, be done<\/strong>…” Luke 22:42.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
