Sin is lawlessness<\/strong>, disobeying God’s righteous, the just law of love. Jesus summarized God’s law in Luke 10:27 (NIV), “‘Love the Lord your God<\/strong> with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself<\/strong>.’” <\/p>\n

The Apostle Paul explained God’s law with respect to our fellow man as follows: “Love works no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law<\/strong>.” Romans 13:10. <\/p>\n

Romans 3:23 teaches, “all have sinned<\/strong>, and come short of the glory of God…”  We want to run away from sin for the love of God<\/em><\/strong>.<\/em> We may not always understand God’s ways, but obeying Him always brings blessings<\/strong>. Isaiah 55:8-9, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways<\/strong>, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”<\/p>\n

How can we overcome sin? Start with Romans 6:12 (NIV), “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires<\/strong>.”  We fight evil by turning away from our passions and by turning to God<\/strong> for His mercy, love, guidance. We ask God to direct our lives. James 1:5 (NIV), “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”<\/p>\n

Faith in Jesus as the son of God overcomes the world and its sinful desires. 1 John 5:4 (NIV), “This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who <\/strong>is it that overcomes <\/strong>the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
