All scriptures are from the Christian Standard Bible<\/em> (CSB) translation.<\/p>\n

Luke 3:14, “Likewise the soldiers asked him (Jesus<\/em>), saying, ‘And what shall we do?’ So he (Jesus<\/em>) said to them, ‘Do not intimidate anyone or accuse falsely, and be content with your wages<\/strong>.’”<\/p>\n

Philippians 4:11, “Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content<\/strong>:”<\/p>\n

1 Timothy 6:8, “And having food and clothing<\/strong>, with these we shall be content<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Hebrews 13:5, “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have<\/strong>. For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’”<\/p>\n

It is not easy to be content when others may have much more than we do. We may wonder, “Why does God bless him and not me?” But the whole lesson of the book of Job teaches us that we may not question God’s will for us<\/strong>. Instead, we are to be thankful and content. Job said, “Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will leave this life. The LORD gives, and the LORD takes away. Blessed be the name of the LORD.” Job 1:21.<\/p>\n

Our flesh wants things – some things may seem reasonable. Yet God may delay a blessing for reasons which we may not understand until the resurrection. Our responsibility is to be content with God’s care. <\/p>\n

If you want to learn how to be content, ask God for wisdom. James 1:5, “Now if any of you lacks wisdom,<\/strong> he should ask God<\/strong> — who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly<\/strong> — and it will be given <\/strong>to him.” God will certainly help you. <\/p>\n

Let us all learn from the Apostle Paul’s words to Timothy. 1 Timothy 6:6-12, “6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain<\/strong>. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation<\/strong> and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness<\/strong>. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
