Zechariah 14:3-5 (ESV), “Then the LORD will go out and fight<\/strong> against those nations as when he fights on a day of battle. 4 On that day his feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives that lies before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west <\/strong>by a very wide valley, so that one half of the Mount shall move northward, and the other half southward. 5 And you shall flee to the valley<\/strong> of my mountains, for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal…Then the LORD my God will come<\/strong>, and all the holy ones with him.” <\/p>\n

We are students of prophecy, not prophets. It is unwise to be dogmatic about a prophetic interpretation. Thus, in a spirit of discussion, it seems reasonable that these scriptures certainly will be symbolically fulfilled and may be literally fulfilled. <\/p>\n

Symbolic Fulfillment<\/strong><\/p>\n

The olive is the symbol of light (oil lamps), peace (olive branch), and divine blessing (prosperity) through the holy Spirit. A mountain is considered as elsewhere (Daniel 2:44) the symbol for a Kingdom. Therefore, the term “Mount of Olives<\/strong>” is easily seen to be – the Kingdom of Light, Peace, and Divine Blessing<\/strong>. The standing or establishment of Jehovah’s “feet”<\/strong> upon the mount signifies that divine favor and law will be re-established<\/strong> in the earth by the holy Kingdom. The valley is the valley of blessings for all mankind. <\/p>\n

Zechariah 14:8-9 (ESV), “On that day living waters<\/strong> (symbolic waters, Revelation 22:1-3<\/em>) shall flow out from Jerusalem,…And the LORD will be king over all the earth<\/strong>. On that day the LORD will be one and his name one.”<\/p>\n

Suggested Literal Fulfillment <\/strong><\/p>\n

In the final phases of Armageddon, Israel’s enemies will be winning in battle. Jerusalem will be taken. But then the LORD will fight for Israel <\/strong>as He did in Old Testament times. There is a geological fault line in Jerusalem, and there will be a great earthquake. The Mount of Olives will split in half. And just as the waters of the Red Sea parted <\/strong>for the Jews when they escaped Egypt, so perhaps, the Mount will split <\/strong>and form a valley of escape<\/strong> for the faithful remnant of Jews. Micah 7:15-16, “As in the days<\/strong> when you came out of the land of Egypt<\/strong>, I will show them wonders<\/strong>. The nations shall see and be ashamed<\/strong> of all their might…” They and mankind will recognize this as a miracle from God. And Jesus with His church will establish their reign on earth.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
