The book of Nahum is a prophecy against the city of Nineveh, the capital of Assyria (current day Mosul, Iraq). History records that the Assyrians were ruthless and cruel to their captives. Sadly, parts of Judea were under Assyrian control. \u200b<\/p>\n

In God's judgment, it was time to avenge His people from Assyrian oppression.  Nahum described the power and devastation that would come through God’s anger. During this destruction, Nahum 1:7 assures those who trust in Him<\/strong>, that God will provide safety <\/strong>and refuge for them.\u200b<\/p>\n

This promise can also apply to us in our day<\/strong>. The Bible tells us of a great impending time of trouble when God will take vengeance upon all unrighteousness. “For then there will be a great tribulation<\/strong>, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will,” Matthew 24:21,22 (NASB).  \u200b<\/p>\n

We are told in Haggai 2:6, 7 (NIV), “This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘In a little while I will once more shake<\/strong> the heavens<\/strong> (spiritual control and false religions) and the earth <\/strong>(earth’s governments, societies, organizations), the sea<\/strong> (anarchistic and restless masses) and the dry land<\/strong> (preferred habitat of demons, Matthew 12:43). I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come (Christ’s righteous kingdom)<\/strong>.’” \u200b<\/p>\n

Anything that can be shaken (is sinful) will be removed (Hebrews 12:26).  Therefore, it is good for us to make sure God is our refuge and our stronghold. God has promised He will never forsake His children. Hebrews 13:5, “He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you<\/strong>.’”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
