The person Shiloh is only referenced once<\/strong> in the Bible. Genesis 49:10 (ASV), “The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the obedience of the peoples be.” Shiloh is Jesus<\/strong>. This is a prophecy<\/strong> which began its fulfillment at Jesus’ first advent continues progressively through this present age into the establishment of  Christ’s righteous reign on earth.<\/p>\n

Shiloh is thought to mean peace. Our Lord Jesus is the great peacemaker<\/strong> both between God and man (Colossians 1:20) and between men and men (Isaiah 2:4). Additionally, Revelation 5:5 identifies our risen Lord as the ruler from the tribe of Judah<\/strong>, “the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David.”<\/p>\n

The scepter, or title to “all power in heaven and in earth,”<\/strong> was given Jesus <\/strong>at His resurrection <\/strong>(Matthew 28:18). But He awaits the Father's appointed time –  before He will exercise His great power and begin His glorious reign on earth.<\/p>\n

Thus, the prophecy of Genesis 49:10 foretells that Shiloh (Jesus, the Peacemaker) will come from Judah, will be given the power and right to reign, and all people will obey Him (during God’s kingdom). Isaiah 9:7 (NASB), “There will be no end <\/strong>to the increase of His<\/em> government or of peace<\/strong>, on the throne of David<\/strong> and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from then on and forevermore<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
