The Greek word for iniquity <\/strong>is \u1f00νομ\u03afα, “anomia<\/strong>,” Strong’s word G459. It means “without law<\/strong> or lawlessness”. Apostle John shows how iniquity (lawlessness) is connected to sin. 1 John 3:4 (CSB), “Everyone who commits sin practices lawlessness (iniquity); and sin is lawlessness (iniquity)<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Jesus explained what God’s law is in Matthew 22:37-40, “Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the<\/em> first and great commandment. “And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ “On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Thus, whenever we fall short of obeying God’s law of love, we are committing sin and are breaking God’s laws.”<\/p>\n

Let us be thankful that Jesus died for our sins and redeems us from our iniquities. Now, true Christians (the church<\/em>) are covered by the blood of Jesus and are being transformed. “He gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness (iniquity<\/em>)<\/strong> and to cleanse for himself a people (church class<\/em>) for his own possession, eager to do good works,” Titus 2:14 (CSB).
