Matthew 8:16, 17 (ESV): “That evening they brought to him (Jesus) many who were oppressed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick<\/strong>. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: ‘He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.’”<\/p>\n

These verses show the fulfillment of the prophecy about our Lord found in Isaiah 53:4 (Young’s Literal Translation), “Surely our sicknesses he hath borne, And our pains — he hath carried them…” In connection with this text, the scripture in Luke 6:19 (ESV) states, “And all the crowd sought to touch him, for power came out from him and healed them all<\/strong>.” Our Lord Jesus<\/strong>, born perfect<\/strong> at his first advent, was not<\/strong>, during the three and one half years of his ministry, suffering from the diseases<\/strong> and illnesses that we as sinful human beings do. As the scriptures state he was “holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners<\/strong>” (Hebrews 7:26). As part of his sacrifice, he voluntarily shared the sorrows and pains of some of the people. He took their pains and infirmities as he imparted to them his vitality, health and strength<\/strong>. (Exactly how he did this is beyond our understanding.) Thus, he not only became a high priest who can “sympathize with our infirmities<\/strong>” (Hebrews 4:15 YLT), but also demonstrated what will happen on a grand scale to all mankind. When Christ establishes his Kingdom on the earth, he will heal all the nations<\/strong>, (Revelation 22:1-3) and remove all pain and suffering and death. Isaiah 25:8, “He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces.”  See also Revelation 21:4.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
