The Anvil<\/b><\/p>\n
Last eve I paused before a blacksmith\u2019s door and heard the anvil ring the vesper chime. And looking in, I saw old hammers on the floor, Worn by the beating years of time.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow many anvils have you had,\u201d said I, \u201cTo wear and batter all these hammers so?\u201d \u201cJust one,\u201d said he, then with a twinkle in his eyes, \u201cThe anvil wears the hammers out you know.\u201d<\/p>\n
And so I thought, the anvil of God\u2019s word, For ages skeptic blows have beat upon. Yet though the noise of falling blows was heard The anvil is unharmed\u2014the hammers gone!<\/p>\n
