{"id":37041,"date":"2022-09-13T13:21:34","date_gmt":"2022-09-13T18:21:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/how-would-you-define-double-mindedness\/"},"modified":"2022-09-13T13:21:34","modified_gmt":"2022-09-13T18:21:34","slug":"how-would-you-define-double-mindedness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/how-would-you-define-double-mindedness\/","title":{"rendered":"How would you define double-mindedness?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"post-content\">\n<p>James 1:6-8 and 4:8 tell us:&nbsp; &quot;One who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea, that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind.&nbsp; For truly, let not such a person imagine that he will receive anything (he asks for) from the Lord, <\/p>\n<div class=\"fusion-fullwidth fullwidth-box fusion-builder-row-1 fusion-flex-container hundred-percent-fullwidth non-hundred-percent-height-scrolling\" style=\"background-position: center center;border-width: 0px 0px 0px 0px;border-color:#eae9e9;border-style:solid\">\n<div class=\"fusion-builder-row fusion-row fusion-flex-align-items-flex-start\" style=\"width:calc( 100% + 0px ) !important;max-width:calc( 100% + 0px ) !important;margin-left: calc(-0px \/ 2 );margin-right: calc(-0px \/ 2 )\">\n<div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-0 fusion_builder_column_1_1 1_1 fusion-flex-column fusion-flex-align-self-flex-start fusion-column-no-min-height\">\n<div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-justify-content-flex-start fusion-content-layout-column\" style=\"background-position:left top;background-size:cover;padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px\">[For being as he is] a <strong>man of two minds&#8211;hesitating<\/strong>, dubious, irresolute&#8211;[he is] unstable and unreliable and uncertain about everything (he thinks, feels, decides)&#8230;&#8230;..Come close to God and He will come close to you.&nbsp; [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; <strong>[realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, <\/strong>and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery].&quot;&nbsp; Amplified Bible Translation<\/p>\n<p>In Matthew 6:24 Jesus said, &quot;<strong>No one can serve two masters<\/strong>.&nbsp; Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.&nbsp; You cannot serve both God and Money.&quot;&nbsp; NIV<\/p>\n<p>Matthew 6:22, &ldquo;The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine <strong>eye be single<\/strong>, thy whole body shall be full of light.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>No two purposes\/goals are so completely one that the service of either would not more or less <strong>detract from the service of the other<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>So, how can a person become single-minded? We have the great example of the prophet Joshua. Joshua 24:14, 15, &ldquo;Now therefore <strong>fear the LORD<\/strong>, and <strong>serve him in sincerity and in truth<\/strong>: and put away the gods which your fathers served&hellip;choose you this day whom ye will serve&hellip;but as for me and my house, we will<strong> serve the LORD<\/strong>.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>If you are struggling with temptations and trials, read James 1:2, 3,&ldquo;Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.&rdquo; Yes, <strong>thank God for all of your trials because you are learning not to be double minded<\/strong>. You are learning to ask and rely on God to help you to develop through all of your difficulties.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Because the Sovereign LORD helps me, I will not be disgraced.
