However, it is generally believed that it was probably an eye impairment. When Paul, (then named Saul), was traveling to Damascus to persecute the Lord&rsquo;s disciples, he was struck blind by the brightness of Jesus&rsquo; presence. &quot;Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?&#8230;.and he was there three days without sight.&quot;&nbsp; Acts 9:4, 9&nbsp; Although Paul was a well-educated man, he depended on others to assist him in writing down his epistles.&nbsp; &quot;See what big letters I make, when I write you in my own hand!&quot;&nbsp;Galatians &nbsp;6:11 (Moffatt)<\/p>\n<p>Continuing in the scripture cited, &quot;To <strong>keep me from becoming conceited<\/strong> because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me.&nbsp;Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.&nbsp;But He said to me, &#039;My grace is sufficient for you, for <strong>my power is made perfect in weakness<\/strong>.&#039;&nbsp; Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ&#039;s power may rest on me.&nbsp;That is why, for Christ&#039;s sake, <strong>I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties<\/strong>.&nbsp;For when I am weak, then I am strong.&quot;&nbsp;II Corinthians 12:7-10&nbsp; (NIV)<\/p>\n<p>Yes, our suffering teaches us humility, compassion, wisdom, obedience, gentleness, etc. We should daily strive to be like Paul, and &ldquo;<strong>Thank God in everything&#8211;no matter what the circumstances<\/strong> may be, be thankful and give thanks; for this is the will of God for you who are in Christ Jesus.&rdquo;&nbsp; I Thessalonians 5:18&nbsp;(Amplified)<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There is no scripture which tells us exactly what Paul&#039;s &quot;thorn in the flesh&quot; was.
