{"id":37477,"date":"2022-09-13T13:40:12","date_gmt":"2022-09-13T18:40:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/why-are-we-told-to-baptize-in-the-name-of-the-father-son-and-holy-spirit\/"},"modified":"2022-09-13T13:40:12","modified_gmt":"2022-09-13T18:40:12","slug":"why-are-we-told-to-baptize-in-the-name-of-the-father-son-and-holy-spirit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/why-are-we-told-to-baptize-in-the-name-of-the-father-son-and-holy-spirit\/","title":{"rendered":"Why are we told to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"post-content\">\n<p>Matthew 28:19<\/p>\n<p>Current scholarship shows that we were never asked to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.&nbsp; We were told to baptize in the name of Jesus &ndash; &ldquo;my name.&rdquo; There were many modifications of Christian doctrine and Biblical texts as the centuries rolled on.&nbsp; In 1902, Dr.&nbsp; Conybeare drew together the scholarship for the close of Matthew&rsquo;s Gospel to show that the original wording of Matthew 28:19 as written by Matthew was &ldquo;go forth to all nations baptizing in my name&hellip;.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; However, this verse was rewritten after the Nicean council (325 A.D.) into the familiar but incorrect reading &ldquo;baptizing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit&hellip;&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; [F.C.
