{"id":37488,"date":"2022-09-13T13:40:40","date_gmt":"2022-09-13T18:40:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/are-christians-still-under-the-law-of-moses\/"},"modified":"2022-09-13T13:40:40","modified_gmt":"2022-09-13T18:40:40","slug":"are-christians-still-under-the-law-of-moses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/are-christians-still-under-the-law-of-moses\/","title":{"rendered":"Are Christians still under the Law of Moses?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"post-content\">\n<p>The agreement that forms the basis of Christian relationship with God is not under Moses.&nbsp; <strong>Faith <\/strong>and <strong>Grace<\/strong> (Rom 6:15) are basis of a relationship with God in this age.&nbsp; The Law was supposed to lead to Christ&hellip;Galatians 3:24 New International Version (NIV), &ldquo;<em>So the law was our guardian until Christ came<\/em>&nbsp;<em>that we might be justified by faith<\/em>.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Romans 7:4 New International Version (NIV)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>&ldquo;<\/em><\/strong><em>So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law<\/em>&nbsp;<em>through the body of Christ that you might belong to another,<\/em>&nbsp;<em>to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God<\/em>.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The change that happened with Christ and Church is not unusual in Biblical history.&nbsp; The first basis for a relationship between man and God was the Adamic Covenant, then followed the Abrahamic Covenant, the Mosaic Covenant and the Samuel Covenant for Kings.<\/p>\n<p>Referring to Jews who believed in Jesus, Apostle Paul says in Colossians 2:14-17:<strong><em>&ldquo;&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><em>having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness,<\/em>&nbsp;<em>which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.<\/em>&nbsp;<em>And having disarmed the powers and authorities,<\/em>&nbsp;<em>he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them<\/em>&nbsp;<em>by the cross.<\/em><em>&rdquo;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>No, Christians are not under the Law of Moses. Christians have a higher law (standard) of love that motivates them not to respond with &ldquo;eye for eye&rdquo; and &ldquo;tooth for tooth&rdquo; but to bless their enemies and to do good to those who prosecute them.&nbsp; Matthew 5:38, 39 <em>&ldquo;<\/em><em>You have heard that it was said, <\/em><em>&lsquo;<\/em><em>Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.<\/em><em>&rsquo;&nbsp;<\/em><em>But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.<\/em><em>&rdquo;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;Galatians 5:14, <strong><em>&ldquo;<\/em><\/strong><em>For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: <\/em><em>&ldquo;<\/em><em>Love your neighbor as yourself.<\/em><em>&rdquo;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After a person has accepted Christ&rsquo;s sacrifice for his sins, he is to keep the commandments of God in the &ldquo;spirit of the law.&rdquo; Paul wrote, &ldquo;Since&nbsp;<em>it is<\/em>&nbsp;indeed one God Who will justify&nbsp;<em>the<\/em>&nbsp;circumcision by faith, and&nbsp;<em>the<\/em>&nbsp;un-circumcision through faith.&nbsp;Are we, then, abolishing law through faith?&nbsp;MAY&nbsp;IT NEVER BE! Rather, we are establishing law<strong><em>&rdquo;<\/em><\/strong> <em>(Rom. 3:30-31). And again, <\/em><em>&ldquo;<\/em><em>So that even as sin has reigned unto death, so also might<\/em>&nbsp;the grace&nbsp;<em>of God<\/em>&nbsp;reign through righteousness&nbsp;<em><\/p>\n<div class=\"fusion-fullwidth fullwidth-box fusion-builder-row-1 fusion-flex-container hundred-percent-fullwidth non-hundred-percent-height-scrolling\" style=\"background-position: center center;border-width: 0px 0px 0px 0px;border-color:#eae9e9;border-style:solid\">\n<div class=\"fusion-builder-row fusion-row fusion-flex-align-items-flex-start\" style=\"width:calc( 100% + 0px ) !important;max-width:calc( 100% + 0px ) !important;margin-left: calc(-0px \/ 2 );margin-right: calc(-0px \/ 2 )\">\n<div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-0 fusion_builder_column_1_1 1_1 fusion-flex-column fusion-flex-align-self-flex-start fusion-column-no-min-height\">\n<div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-justify-content-flex-start fusion-content-layout-column\" style=\"background-position:left top;background-size:cover;padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px\">[justification] unto eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. What then shall<\/em> <em>we say?<\/em>&nbsp;Shall we continue in sin, so that grace may abound?&nbsp;MAY&nbsp;IT NEVER BE!
