The debate used by Protestant and Catholic theologians concerning the time of Christ&#8217;s resurrection and the attempt to tie it to the weekly Sabbath is nothing but a red herring, obscuring the real issue. Even if Christ had been resurrected on the first day of the week (which He was not), the time of the resurrection has no connection to the observance of the weekly Sabbath, but should be used only as a sign of His Messiahship.
