In managing wealth, we are confronted with many choices, some clear, some murky. The counsel God gives about physical wealth has spiritual ramifications. The same negative habits that produce physical poverty also produce spiritual poverty. Poverty overtakes us incrementally, step by step. The sluggard will do little or nothing, having no internal motivation or ant-like diligence. The sluggard has neither a sense of responsibility nor vision. Poverty is caused because the sluggard lacks understanding, self-control, and vision, having no inner motivation to drive him forward.
