The temperature suddenly dropped, as the river rose ominously. The raft suddenly crashed into a boulder, making Bill and his companion vulnerable to life-threatening hypothermia, an exceedingly fearful situation. After crying out to God and desperately attempting to save the scuttled raft, seconds before it almost capsized, the current miraculously changed, saving their lives. We should be equally fearful of losing out on God"s eternal rest and the privilege of becoming God’s people (Hebrews 4:1). The covenant renewal we experience annually at the Feast of Tabernacles is every bit as solemn as the covenant made at Mount Sinai. We dare not transfer our fear of the Lord to a fear of man or the world, having a toxic misdirected fear, but instead we should follow Joshua’s example of not turning from to the left of right, but continue to fear God and keeping His Law, repenting from our sins, having our hearts and minds circumcised, avoiding the fearful curses accrued from disobedience.

Sermonette: What Do We Fear The Most? #FT08-09s Bill Onisick Given 18-Oct-08; 21 minutes listen: description: (hide) Bill Onisick, recounting his experience fishing at the base of Mount McKinley, poses the question, "What is it we fear the most?" In this unseasonable time in Alaska, the warm weather had melted the lake, turning the rivers … Continue reading “Sermonette: What Do We Fear The Most?”

[1

post-40622","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-sermons
["GET
