Godly righteousness and self-generated human righteousness (as represented in Pharisaic and Hellenistic Judaism) are incompatible. Any humanly devised system of beliefs (including Protestantism and Catholicism) are also incompatible with God&#8217;s system of beliefs. Without a brand new wineskin, the wine of the New Covenant would burst the seams.
