It can help him endure the turmoils of this life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ser\">Introduction:<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">A. &#8220;Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">1. One of the greatest things that the faithful child of God enjoys is blessed assurance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">2. A faithful child of God can have a confidence that will help him endure the turmoils of this life<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">3. Isnt it reassuring to know that if you were to die tonight that you would be safe in the arms of Jesus? BUT: &#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">a. There are many though who do not have this assurance?<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">b. There are some who do not have confidence&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">B. The Bible teaches that we can have security of the soul, a true inner peace and a blessed assurance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">1. 2 Timothy 1:7 &#8230; no fear because of assurance<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">2. 2 Timothy 1:12 &#8230; we have an assurance of salvation<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">3. Romans 8:38-39 &#8230; again, we have <em>blessed assurance<\/em> of salvation<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">4. Hebrews 6:11 &#8230; assurance of hope<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">5. Romans 8:28 &#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">C. Let us now at some ways we can have this blessed assurance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ser\">Discussion:<\/p>\n<h2>A. ASSOCIATED WITH THIS BLESSED ASSURANCE IS KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH<\/h2>\n<p class=\"i2\">1. Colossians 2:1-2<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">a. Assurance comes from understanding<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">b. Understanding comes from study<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">2. 1 Thessalonians 1:5 &#8230; the gospel came in assurance and it brings assurance<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">3. Hebrews 10:22<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">a. We draw close to God when we have assurance of faith<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">b. And, remember &#8230; Roman 10:17<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">4. Thus if we want to be people who have blessed assurance, we must be people of the book<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">a. 2 Timothy 2:15<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">b. 1 Timothy 4:13<\/p>\n<h2>B. THE BIBLE TEACHES WE CAN HAVE BLESSED ASSURANCE, HAVE CONFIDENCE:<\/h2>\n<p class=\"i2\">1. Because of the cross<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">a. Ephesians 2:13 &#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">b. Ephesians 1:7 &#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">c. John 3:16 &#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">2. Because we are in Christ<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">a. Notice the blessings that are found in Christ:<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">1) 2 Corinthians 2:14 &#8230; We are triumphant in Christ<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">2) 2 Corinthians 5:17 &#8230; We are a new creature in Christ<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">3) All spiritual blessing are in Christ (Ephesians 1:3)<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">4) Forgiveness of sins are found in Christ (Ephesians 1:7)<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">5) We receive an inheritance in Christ (Ephesians 1:11)<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">b. This is why being in Christ brings assurance<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">c. How to we get into Christ that we have this blessed assurance?<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">1) Galatians 3:27<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">2) Romans 6:3-4<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">3. Because we have an avenue of forgiveness<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">a. God knew that after we were baptized, we would sin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">1) Romans 3:23<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">2) Not a soul can say &#8220;I am sinless,&#8221; or &#8220;I am perfect.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">b. 1 John 1:7-10<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">1) God does not expect us to be a perfect people, but He expects us to be a confessing people.<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">2) If we use this avenue of forgiveness, then we have the assurance that we remain righteous before God<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">4. Because we have the Bible which directs us to heaven<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">a. God loved us so much that He not only sent His Son that we might be saved, but He also sent us His words to direct us to heaven.<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">b. Gods word give us blessed assurance because:<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">1) They are quick and powerful &#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"i5\">a) Hebrews 4:12<\/p>\n<p class=\"i5\">b) Romans 1:16<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">2) They give light and understanding &#8230; &#8220;The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple&#8221; (Psalm 119:130)<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">3) We cleaned and purified by it<\/p>\n<p class=\"i5\">a) John 15:3<\/p>\n<p class=\"i5\">b) 1 Peter 1:22<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">4) It will save us &#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"i5\">a) Acts 11:14<\/p>\n<p class=\"i5\">b) Call the &#8220;word of salvation&#8221; in Acts 13:26<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">5) It will not pass away<\/p>\n<p class=\"i5\">a) Matthew 24:35<\/p>\n<p class=\"i5\">b) 1 Peter 1:24-25<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">5. Because we have the promise of God<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">a. Not tempted above what we can withstand &#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">1) 1 Corinthians 10:12<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">2) 2 Peter 2:9<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">b. We will be provided with what we need<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">1) Matthew 6:33<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">2) Psalm 37:25<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">c. Salvation<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">1) Hebrews 5:8-9<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">2) Mark 16:16<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">3) Revelation 2:10<\/p>\n<p class=\"i4\">4) Matthew 10:22<\/p>\n<h2>C. TO ENJOY TRUE BLESSED ASSURANCE WE MUST<\/h2>\n<p class=\"i2\">1. Be obedient &#8230; 1 John 3:18-24<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">2. Be steadfast &#8230; 1 Corinthians 15:58<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">3. Be watchful and brave &#8230; 1 Corinthians 16:13<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">4. Strong faith &#8230; Hebrews 10:22<\/p>\n<p class=\"ser\">Conclusion:<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">A. Do you have this blessed assurance?<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">B. No greater joy can come to a person than having this blessed assurance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">C. This blessed assurance:<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">1. Is proclaimed in the Bible<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">2. Is ours to enjoy<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">a. If we are a Christian<\/p>\n<p class=\"i3\">b. If we remain faithful<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">D.
