INTRODUCTION:<\/p>\n
1. Read: Jeremiah 1:4-10<\/p>\n
2. About the Text:<\/p>\n
1) God called Jeremiah to be a prophet.<\/p>\n
2) Jeremiah was evidently a young man.<\/p>\n
3) Jeremiah was to speak what God told him to speak.<\/p>\n
4) Jeremiah’s words were going to be consequential to the overthrowing of nations.<\/p>\n
3. Jeremiah had a very difficult life.<\/p>\n
1) He was the son of Hilkiah, one of the priests.<\/p>\n
2) He was from the town of Anathoth of Benjamin.<\/p>\n
3) His prophesies started in the days of Josiah and continued through until the carrying away of Judah by Babylon.<\/p>\n
4) Jeremiah himself was taken down to Egypt with other refugees of Judah.<\/p>\n
5) Tradition holds that he was finally murdered in Egypt for his prophesies.<\/p>\n
6) He is also the author of the book of Lamentations which is an eye witness account of the destruction of Jerusalem by Babylon.<\/p>\n
