1) “Thy word is truth.” John 17:17<\/p>\n
2) It is impossible for God to lie. Hebrews 6:18<\/p>\n
3. Knowing this, not surprising to find that God hates a lying tongue. Proverbs 12:22. A lying tongue is opposed to truth.<\/p>\n

I. LYING IDENTIFIES THE LIAR WITH HIS FATHER.<\/p>\n
1. John 8:44. For better or worse we become like our father spiritually.<\/p>\n
2. 1 John 3:8. “he that doeth sin is of the devil.” “doeth” – present tense denoting continuous action. The one that continues in sin is of the devil.<\/p>\n
3. There are sons of the devil in the kingdom. Matthew 13:38<\/p>\n
4. Eternal fire is prepared for the devil and his angels. Matthew 25:41. And for his sons. Matthew 13:38-43<\/p>\n
II. “LYING LIPS ARE ABOMINATION TO THE LORD.” Proverbs 12:22<\/p>\n
1. Jehovah hates a lying tongue. Proverbs 6:17<\/p>\n
2. Lying lips do not become a prince. Proverbs 17:7<\/p>\n
3. Ananias became an abomination with his lie. Acts 5:3<\/p>\n
4. We put things that are abominable to us far away. So does God. Rev. 21:8<\/p>\n
III. “THEY THAT DEAL TRULY ARE HIS DELIGHT.” Proverbs 12:22<\/p>\n
1. The tongue of the just is as choice silver. Proverbs 10:20<\/p>\n
2. The speaker of truth shall dwell in the holy hill. Psalm 15:1f<\/p>\n
3. He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness. Proverbs 12:17<\/p>\n

1. The Commands.<\/p>\n
1) Leviticus 19:11. ye shall not…lie one to another.<\/p>\n
2) Colossians 3:9. lie not one to another.<\/p>\n
3) Ephesians 4:25. putting away all falsehood…speak ye truth.<\/p>\n
4) 1 Peter 2:1. Putting away all guile.<\/p>\n
2. Restoration<\/p>\n
1) Lying is defined as sin. Leviticus 6:3<\/p>\n
2) Repentance requires it. Luke 13:3<\/p>\n
3) Can’t steal a car, repent, and keep the car.<\/p>\n
4) Did your lie take someone’s reputation, freedom, possessions, etc.? Must remove consequences.<\/p>\n
