By Paul’s words we can hardly see where to stop emphasizing obedience.<\/p>\n Discussion:<\/strong> Two choices presented.<\/p>\n I. Obey sin and die or obedience unto righteousness, v. 16<\/p>\n 1. We are a servant of one or the other.<\/p>\n 2. The importance lies in the destination.<\/p>\n 1) Death – Rom. 6:21; Rev. 21:8<\/p>\n 2) Righteousness – 2 Tim. 4:8; Rev. 19:8; 1 John 3:7.<\/p>\n II. A choice can be made and the state changed, v. 17<\/p>\n 1. Change from servant of sin to servant of obedience, 1 Cor. 6:9-11; Col. 1:13; Acts 26:16-18.<\/p>\n 2. They obeyed from the heart.<\/p>\n 1) No hypocrisy.<\/p>\n 2) No reservations (not holding anything back). No man can serve two masters, Matt. 6:24.<\/p>\n 3) No turning back, Luke 9:62.<\/p>\n III. State being changed. Free from sin, v. 18<\/p>\n 1. Matt. 26:28, by the blood of Christ.<\/p>\n 2.
