Read: Ephesians 4:4-6<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">2. About the Text:<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">1) Paul encourages the church at Ephesus to strive for unity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">2) To drive home how important unity is in the church, Paul gives as evidence seven doctrines the nature of which motivate the church to unity and uniqueness.<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">3. Ref. to S, T, P, O, and A.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ser\">DISCUSSION: The unique nature of God&#8217;s family involves a unique . . .<\/p>\n<p class=\"d1\">I. &nbsp;&nbsp;Home&#8211;One Body<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">1. This home has a unique identity&#8211;the church.<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">2. The home affords a unique relationship between its members-family.<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">3. This home has a unique purpose&#8211;to show forth God&#8217;s wisdom. (Ephesians 3:10-11).<\/p>\n<p class=\"d1\">II. &nbsp;Spirit&#8211;One Spirit<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">1. His function in the Godhead is unique&#8211;to carry out God&#8217;s will.<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">1) Spirit moved upon the face of the waters (Genesis 1:2).<\/p>\n<p class=\"i2\">2) The Spirit guided the apostles into all truth&#8211;&#8220;Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.&#8221; (John 16:13)<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">2. He communicates in a unique manner&#8211;through the word. Ephesians 3:1-5; Jude 1:3 (once)<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">3. He brings a unique result to the church&#8211;unity. 1 Corinthians 12:12-14<\/p>\n<p class=\"d1\">III. Future&#8211;One Hope<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">1. Our future is based upon a unique truth&#8211;the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Acts 17:31 &#8220;Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">2. Our future involves a unique moment&#8211;the resurrection of the dead; 1 Thessalonians 4:13ff<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">3. Our future involves a unique meeting place&#8211;heaven; 2 Corinthians 5:1ff<\/p>\n<p class=\"d1\">IV. &nbsp;Older Brother&#8211;One Lord (Hebrews 2:11-13)<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">1. He is a unique person&#8211;both God and man; Matthew 22:41-46<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">2. He lead a unique life&#8211;servitude; Philippians 2:5ff<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">3. He died a unique death&#8211;the death of the cross; Hebrews 9:12, 26-28.<\/p>\n<p class=\"d1\">V. &nbsp;&nbsp;Standard&#8211;One Faith<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">1. It is uniquely inspired&#8211;by the breath of God; 2 Timothy 3:16<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">2. It contains a unique message&#8211;Salvation through Jesus Christ; John 20:30,31<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">3. It provides a unique plan for that salvation&#8211;by becoming righteous; Romans 1:16,17.<\/p>\n<p class=\"d1\">VI. &nbsp;Birth&#8211;One Baptism<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">1. It is a unique birth&#8211;spiritual; John 3:1-7<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">2. It has a unique likeness&#8211;death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ; Romans 6:1ff<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">3. It has a unique consequence&#8211;forgiveness of sins; Acts 2:38<\/p>\n<p class=\"d1\">VII. Father&#8211;One God and Father of all.<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">1. He has unique authority; 1 Corinthians 15:27; 1 Corinthians 11:3<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">2. He has unique love; Romans 5:8, John 3:16<\/p>\n<p class=\"i1\">3.
