PROPOSITION:<\/strong> Heaven is a place where there is no evil, where the righteous will dwell eternally, and where God and Christ are.<\/p>\n

OBJECTIVES:<\/strong> In this lesson, the hearer should realize the importance of being with God eternally, living a righteous life, and avoiding evil.<\/p>\n

AIM:<\/strong> To motivate each member toward faithful living so as to attain unto the goal of heaven.<\/p>\n

INTRODUCTION:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Read: John 14:2-3<\/p>\n

2. About the Text:<\/p>\n

1) Jesus was talking to his disciples concerning his departure.<\/p>\n

2) The apostles were worried about his leaving them.<\/p>\n

3) So, He reassures them with these words.<\/p>\n

4) These words are also a great assurance to all who would become disciples of the Lord.<\/p>\n

5) They are the words of ultimate comfort to the Christian to know that one day he will be with his Lord.<\/p>\n

6) What is this place which Jesus has prepared? Heaven!<\/p>\n

DISCUSSION:<\/strong> [ Discussion of this sermon on heaven. ] The Bible doctrine of Heaven teaches us that Heaven is a place where…<\/h2>\n

I.   No evil shall be.<\/p>\n

1. The wicked will not be there–Matthew 13:49 “So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just.”<\/p>\n

2. There will be no death there–Luke 20:34-36<\/p>\n

3. There will be no sorrow there–Rev. 21:1-4<\/p>\n

4. There will be no sin there–Rev. 21:27<\/p>\n

5. There will be no curse there–Rev. 22:3 “And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:”<\/p>\n

6. Why? No corrupting influences there.<\/p>\n

1) Heavenly treasures will last eternally for there is nothing to corrupt them there–Matthew 6:20<\/p>\n

2) No evil can be there because it is incorruptible, and undefiled–1 Peter 1:3-4<\/p>\n

II.  The Righteous will dwell eternally in joy.<\/p>\n

1. Righteousness dwells there–2 Peter 3:13-14<\/p>\n

2. The righteous will go into eternal life–Matthew 25:34, 46<\/p>\n

3. The fulness of joy is in God’s presence–Psalm 16:11<\/p>\n

4. Those who follow Jesus are the righteous–John 10:27-28<\/p>\n

5. Therefore we know we have eternal life if we are righteous–2 Corinthians 5:1<\/p>\n

6. The righteous are God’s servants–Rev. 22:1-5<\/p>\n

7. Finally, in this sermon on heaven…<\/p>\n

III. God and Christ are There.<\/p>\n

1. God dwells there.<\/p>\n

1) It is his dwelling place–Psalm 11:4<\/p>\n

2) It is his sanctuary–Psalm 102:19<\/p>\n

3) It is a high and holy place where he can live in eternity–Isaiah 57:15<\/p>\n

4) We acknowledge his dwelling place in prayer–Matthew 6:9 “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.”<\/p>\n

5) Jesus is with God there–Hebrews 8:1<\/p>\n

6) Both the Father and the Son are together in heaven–Rev. 21:22-25<\/p>\n

2. We can be with God and Christ in Heaven.<\/p>\n

1) We must serve and follow the Christ–John 12:26<\/p>\n

2) We must be united in Christ–John 17:22-24<\/p>\n

3) We shall be with him in glory–Colossians 3:4<\/p>\n

4) We will be with him in the resurrection–1 Thessalonians 4:17<\/p>\n

5) The faithful seek a heavenly country–Hebrews 11:14-16<\/p>\n

6) The sons of God will be like Christ–1 John 3:2<\/p>\n

CONCLUSION:<\/strong> The Bible Doctrine of Heaven is: [ Conclusion of this sermon on heaven. ]<\/p>\n

1. Heaven is the dwelling place of the righteous.<\/p>\n

2. We must be in fellowship with God to go there.<\/p>\n

3. No evil can enter into heaven.<\/p>\n

4. Let us therefore live in a way that would gain for us that entrance into eternal life.<\/p>\n
