Introduction:<\/strong> Read Matt. 10:28<\/p>\n

1. In living the Christian life we worry far too much about what others think.<\/p>\n

2. Jesus teaches that we should not even fear those that kill the body. He points out:<\/p>\n

1) They can’t kill the soul.<\/p>\n

2) There is one to fear who can kill body and soul in Hell.<\/p>\n

3. Let’s spend some time applying this truth tonight.<\/p>\n

Discussion:<\/strong> This truth applies when:<\/p>\n

I.   Our Families Discourage Us.<\/p>\n

1. Matt. 10:34-37.<\/p>\n

2. Luke 14:26. Divine Priority.<\/p>\n

3. Any family member that demands or requests a place before God is to be denied.<\/p>\n

4. This will cost you: comfort, peace, inheritance, spouse, children.<\/p>\n

II.  The Church Pressures Us<\/p>\n

1. Some churches have itching ears, 2 Tim. 4:3-4<\/p>\n

2. Some elders cater to it (because of family, money, etc.).<\/p>\n

3. It’s tempting for a preacher to cater if the position is comfortable (for fear of losing job).<\/p>\n

4. Note the words of Paul with this in mind, 2 Tim. 4:1-5.<\/p>\n

1) Whom shall the preacher fear? v. 1<\/p>\n

2) What shall the preacher preach? v. 2<\/p>\n

3) What shall it cost the preacher? v. 5<\/p>\n

III. Governments Persecute Us.<\/p>\n

1. Laws could be passed to make Christian worship and preaching illegal.<\/p>\n

2. Acts 5:27-33.<\/p>\n

3. Their stand cost them, v. 40.<\/p>\n

4. They feared Him who is able to kill body and souuld in Hell, vv. 41-42.<\/p>\n

IV.  Employers Threaten Us<\/p>\n

1. Matt. 6:33; Jas 1:17.<\/p>\n

2. If an employer requires you to “go along to get along” or lose job, leave.<\/p>\n

3. Shall you FEAR what the employer can do?<\/p>\n

4. Psalm 37:25 (despite the employer’s threats)<\/p>\n

Conclusion:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Who, now are we to fear?<\/p>\n

2. Let us resolve to be right in our fear.<\/p>\n

3. Let us do right and fear Him which can destroy with soul and body in Hell.<\/p>\n

4. Not forgetting that “inheritance incorruptible.” (1 Pet. 1:3-4)<\/p>\n
