As the bank returns a hot check stamped “insufficient funds,” so one day God will turn away our self-living standards of morality as insufficient.

1. Have you heard or used one of these phrases to justify something lately?

a. I Like

b. I Think

2. One of the reasons there is so much religious error in our day is that many use insufficient standards – standards other than God’s

B. Jeremiah 10:23

2. It is God’s like, and not our likes, that should direct us

B. I FEEL

1. Galatians 5:16-24

2. What feels good to us is not to be our standard for living

C. I WANT

1. Acts 8:18-24

2. Simon say something he wanted, and he allowed his “want” to be his guide – which lead to sin

D. I THINK

1. 2 Kings 5:1-15

2. How we thinks ought to be should not be our standard

E. THEY DO IT

1. 1 Samuel 8:4-8

2. What everyone else is doing is not be our standard

F. IT SEEMS RIGHT

1. Proverbs 14:12

2. It is not was seems right to us that is important, but what IS right to God

G. I AM SINCERE

1. 2 Samuel 6:6-7

2. Being sincere in what we do does not make it right – we can be sincerely wrong

H. I AM ALWAYS RIGHT

1. 2 Corinthians 13:5

2. Take nothing for granted – make sure

I. NO ONE WILL SEE ME

1. Proverbs 15:3

2. We need to remember the “all-seeing” eye of God

J. IT’S FOR A GOOD CAUSE

1. Romans 3:8

2. Situation ethics is not the proper standard

K. I DO NOT SEE WHY NOT

1. Acts 5:1-11

2. Evidently, this must have been their attitude

L. THE PREACHER SAID SO

1. Galatians 1:6-9

2. It doesn’t matter who says so, if it is not true to the bible it is not so

M. OTHERS DO WORSE THINGS

1. Matthew 7:5

2. What other people do or don’t do is not our standard for godly living

N. GOD DIDN’T SAY NOT TO

1. Leviticus 10:1-2

2. The law of exclusion

O. I’M SURE GOD WOULDN’T MIND

1. 1 Corinthians 2:10-13

2. How do we know what God doesn’t mind except as is revealed in the Bible

P. IT ISN’T AGAINST THE LAW

1. Acts 5:29

2. The law of God supercedes the laws of man

Q. IT HURTS NO ONE BUT ME

1. 1 Corinthians 8:12-13

2. Causing a brother to stumble is hurting more than yourself

R. MOST PEOPLE THINK IT IS OKAY

1. Matthew 7:13-14

2. Exodus 23:2

S. MY PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS DID

1. Galatians 6:5

2. We cannot rely on what anyone else has done

T. IT DOESN’T BOTHER MY CONSCIENCE

1. Proverbs 30:20

2. Our conscience is not always a safe guide

U. WE HAVE DONE IT THAT WAY FOR YEARS

1. Joshua 5:2-9

2. You may have been doing it wrong for years as did Israel in the wilderness

V. IT’S ALRIGHT IF WE DO IT IN THE NAME OF THE LORD

1.
