Evangelism Sermon Outline<\/h2>\n

Introduction:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. In our series, when we think of this present age, THE CHRISTIAN AGE, we find something entirely new: An evangelistic thrust taking men and a message to all the world!<\/p>\n

2. Such did not exist in the Patriarchal Age. In the age of Moses, the law was for Israel and not for the Gentiles. Evangelism was not a part of the law, except as one man under the law would give encouragement or rebuke to another man also under that same law.<\/p>\n

I.   Even Under The Law, We Find A Pointing To The New Testament — And Benefit To All Men.<\/p>\n

A. Isaiah 2:1-3 — The law from Jerusalem — all nations to benefit.<\/p>\n

B. Joel 2:28 — A pouring out upon ALL FLESH.<\/p>\n

C. John 10:16 — Christ, having other sheep not of His present fold.<\/p>\n

D. Acts 2:39 — Promise to Jews, their descendants, and those afar off.<\/p>\n

II.  New Testament Fulfillment Of Old Testament Promise Waited Upon Two Events.<\/p>\n

A. The death of the Christ. Redemption for man (Eph. 1:7); justification for man (Rom. 3).<\/p>\n

B. The resurrection of the Christ, pictured here as the gist of the gospel (1 Cor. 15:1-4).<\/p>\n

C. Christ had promised the apostles an empowering, giving them truth (John 16:13).<\/p>\n

D. They were then to wait in Jerusalem for that power (Luke 14:49; Acts 1:4-5).<\/p>\n

E. The power came upon them (Acts 2:1-4), and now they speak that gospel!<\/p>\n

F. The Lord had earlier said it was to be taken to the whole world (Mark 16:15-16).<\/p>\n

III. And There, Acts 2, Is The Beginning.<\/h2>\n

A. Remembering Isaiah 2:2 — All nations.<\/p>\n

B. The Great Commission — All the world (Mark 16:15-16).<\/p>\n

C. In Acts 2, promise to all — Jews, Jewish descendancy, and those afar off (Acts 2:39).<\/p>\n

D. Here then, the beginning of the CHRISTIAN AGE, the GOSPEL AGE.<\/p>\n

IV.  The Business Of The Church Is The Making Known Of The Gospel.<\/p>\n

A. What is that business? Preaching the good news (1 Cor. 1:21).<\/p>\n

B. What is that preaching called?<\/p>\n

1. Preaching of the gospel (Mark 16:15; 1 Cor. 1:17).<\/p>\n

2. Preaching of the cross (1 Cor. 1:18).<\/p>\n

3. Preaching of the Christ (1 Cor. 1:23).<\/p>\n

4. Preaching of Jesus (Acts 8:35).<\/p>\n

5. Preaching the faith (Gal. 1:23).<\/p>\n

6. Preaching the Word of God (Acts 13:5).<\/p>\n

7. Preaching the forgiveness of sins (Acts 13:38).<\/p>\n

8. Preaching the kingdom of God (Acts 8:12).<\/p>\n

9. Preaching the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 8:12).<\/p>\n

10.Preaching peace (Eph. 2:17).<\/p>\n

C. And yet, there is but ONE MESSAGE<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Conclusion:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. The gospel is thus commanded to be preached, that you might be saved.<\/p>\n

2. That gospel must be obeyed: Faith, repentance, confession and baptism into Christ are the terms.<\/p>\n

3. In the ten points above, think of what you obey if you will not do the Lord’s will; think, on the other hand of what you reject if you spurn the message!<\/p>\n
