SUBJECT: Self Discipline<\/p>\n
TITLE: The ABCs of Getting Out of our Comfort Zones<\/p>\n
PROPOSITION: To set forth the fundamental things we must do to begin to get out of our comfort zones, namely 1) Attend the services; 2) study the Bible; 3) imitate the Christ.<\/p>\n
Aim: It is my aim to impress upon each person the church’s need for him or her to get out of their comfort zones by doing these three things as a start!<\/p>\n
INTRODUCTION:<\/p>\n
1. Read: Philippians 2:5<\/p>\n
2. About the Text:<\/p>\n
1) We are to have the mind of Christ.<\/p>\n
2) Christ left his comfort zone.<\/p>\n
3) He said in Matthew 7:24-27 (wise man, foolish man).<\/p>\n
4) If we do not leave our comfort zones, we do nothing and are like the foolish man.<\/p>\n
5) What do we do to leave our comfort zones?<\/p>\n
6) We start with the simple things, the ABCs.<\/p>\n

DISCUSSION:<\/p>\n
I. ATTEND THE SERVICES.<\/p>\n
1. It is more comfortable not to come. But this is not the point. (Matthew 16:24 take up cross).<\/p>\n
2. By attending you exhort me! (Hebrews 10:25).<\/p>\n
3. “Fisher’s of men.” (Matthew 4:19). (They left their comfort zones.)<\/p>\n
II. STUDY THE BIBLE.<\/p>\n
1. It is easier to be entertained! However, Psalm 1. Mind is not idle!<\/p>\n
2. By studying we… (2 Timothy 2:15).<\/p>\n
3. Bereans “more noble” (Acts 17:11). (They left their comfort zones.)<\/p>\n
III. IMITATE THE CHRIST.<\/p>\n
1. It is easier to conform! (Romans 12:1).<\/p>\n
2. By following the Christ we let our lights shine. (Matthew 5:16)<\/p>\n
3. Paul the apostle counted it all as refuse (Philippians 3:8).<\/p>\n
CONCLUSION:<\/p>\n
1. It’s as easy as ABC, but harder than making no progress at all!<\/p>\n
