There are many and sundry reasons the Bible gives for our studying the sacred volume. The following are just a “few” of those reasons:<\/p>\n
1) One must study….<\/strong>to attain spiritual “light” (Psalm 119:130).<\/p>\n 2) One must study….<\/strong>to have “understanding” (Psalm 119:130).<\/p>\n 3) One must study….<\/strong>to acquire spiritual knowledge (Proverbs 2:6).<\/p>\n 4) One must study….<\/strong>to show himself “approved” unto God (2 Timothy 2:15).<\/p>\n 5) One must study….<\/strong>the Word before the Word can “dwell” in him (Colossians 3:16).<\/p>\n 6) One must study….<\/strong>the Word before he can abide in the Word (John 8:31-32).<\/p>\n 7) One must study….<\/strong>before he can live by every word (Matthew 4:4).<\/p>\n 8) One must study….<\/strong>the Word before he can receive the Word (James 1:21).<\/p>\n 9) One must study….<\/strong>to know what sin is (Romans 7:7; cf. 1 John 3:4).<\/p>\n 10) One must study….<\/strong>to be “entire” (James 1:3-4).<\/p>\n 11) One must study….<\/strong>God to “love” God (1 John 2:3-5).<\/p>\n 12) One must study….<\/strong>God to “know” God (1 John 2:3).<\/p>\n Since Bible study is so important, and since so much depends on it (John 12:48), how can a person be so negligent and indifferent toward it? Let’s study God’s word daily (Acts 17:11) with a view toward heaven and eternity!
