The following are some lessons that we as God&#8217;s children can learn from studying this marvelous book of God&#8217;s servant, David:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1)<\/strong> God is &#8220;holy&#8221; (Psalm 99:3,5,9), therefore we should be &#8220;holy&#8221; (1 Peter 1:15-16).<\/p>\n<p><strong>2)<\/strong> As God&#8217;s children, we should &#8220;thirst&#8221; for God (Psalm 42:2; Psalm 63:1; Matthew 5:6).<\/p>\n<p><strong>3)<\/strong> We should praise the Lord among the people and sing unto Him among the nations because of His great mercy and truth (Psalm 57:9-10; 2 Corinthians 1:3-4).<\/p>\n<p><strong>4)<\/strong> We should express &#8220;joy&#8221; in God&#8217;s house (Psalm 122:1; Gal. 5:22; Hebrews 10:25).<\/p>\n<p><strong>5)<\/strong> We should practice the presence of God (Psalm 23; Psalm 91; Matthew 28:20; Romans 8:35-39).<\/p>\n<p><strong>6)<\/strong> We should demonstrate our love for God&#8217;s Word (Psalm 119; Matthew 5:14-16; Colossians 3:16).<\/p>\n<p><strong>7)<\/strong> We should be thankful for God&#8217;s care and provision (Psalm 65:9; Psalm 121; 1 Peter 5:7).<\/p>\n<p><strong>8)<\/strong> We can take refuge in God (Psalm 46:1,7,11; Colossians 1:9-13).<\/p>\n<p><strong>9)<\/strong> We learn about the &#8220;suffering&#8221; Savior (Psalm 22); the conquering King (Psalm 2; Psalm 72; Psalm 110) and that we should be a &#8220;willing&#8221; volunteer in His army (Psalm 110:3; Ephesians 6:10-18).<\/p>\n<p><strong>10)<\/strong> We need to be a part of the growing kingdom of God and &#8220;Say among the heathen that the Lord reigneth&#8221; (Psalm 96:10) because the Lord &#8220;shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with His truth&#8221; (Psalm 96:13; John 12:48-50).<\/p>\n<p><strong>11)<\/strong> We need to be always willing to confess sin in our lives (Psalm 32:5; Psalm 51:3; 1 John 1:8-10) and to seek God&#8217;s forgiveness (Psalm 51:1-2; Luke 18:13) in order to &#8220;conquer&#8221; sin (Psalm 130:7-8; 1 John 1:9).<\/p>\n<p><strong>12)<\/strong> We need never have doubts about God&#8217;s dealing with the wicked (Psalm 37:7-10; Rev. 21:8).<\/p>\n<p><strong>13)<\/strong> If we will trust in the Lord, He will protect us from those that would harm us (Psalm 31:11-20).<\/p>\n<p><strong>14)<\/strong> If we in the day of trouble &#8220;seek&#8221; the Lord and &#8220;remember&#8221; Him, He will deliver us (Psalm 77:1-20).<\/p>\n<p><strong>15)<\/strong> The Lord&#8217;s people should not fear physical death because He will deliver our soul from death (Psalm 116:1-8; 1 Corinthians 15:54-57).<\/p>\n<p><strong>16)<\/strong> If we remain &#8220;faithful&#8221; to the Lord, God will be &#8220;faithful&#8221; to give us the &#8220;victory&#8221; over our enemies (Psalm 31:23; Psalm 60:12; Psalm 89; 1 Corinthians 15:55-57).<\/p>\n<p><strong>17)<\/strong> Those who &#8220;abide&#8221; in God&#8217;s tabernacle are those who &#8220;walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart&#8221; (Psalm 15:1-2).<\/p>\n<p><strong>18)<\/strong> We must have a &#8220;child-like&#8221; faith in order to be pleasing to God (Psalm 131:2; Hebrews 11:6).<\/p>\n<p><strong>19)<\/strong> As brethren, we must always &#8220;dwell together in unity&#8221; in order to attain the Lord&#8217;s blessing of eternal life (Psalm 133:1-3; Hebrews 13:1).<\/p>\n<p><strong>20)<\/strong> We must trust in God &#8220;if&#8221; we want to receive strength, prosperity, and long life (Psalm 52:8).<\/p>\n<p><strong>21)<\/strong> We will be &#8220;blessed&#8221; if we help the poor (Psalm 41:1-3).<\/p>\n<p><strong>22)<\/strong> All kings shall fall down before God and &#8220;all nations shall serve him&#8221; (Psalm 72:11).<\/p>\n<p><strong>23)<\/strong> God will &#8220;stand at the right hand of the poor&#8221; and will save them from those who will slanderously condemn their soul (Psalm 109:31).<\/p>\n<p><strong>24)<\/strong> We should &#8220;hate&#8221; the attitude of those who live contrary to the Lord and His teachings (Psalm 139:21-22).<\/p>\n<p><strong>25)<\/strong> &#8220;If a man die, shall he live again?&#8221; (Job 14:14). God&#8217;s answer is &#8220;Yes&#8221;! (Psalm 16:8-11; Psalm 17:13-15; Psalm 49:15; Psalm 73:23-26; John 11:25-26).<\/p>\n<p><strong>26)<\/strong> To behold God&#8217;s face after death is &#8220;better&#8221; than worldly prosperity (Psalm 17:13-15).<\/p>\n<p><strong>27)<\/strong> &#8220;God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for He shall receive me.&#8221; (Psalm 49:15; John 14:1-3).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When we consider the many spiritual lessons learned from a study of the Psalms, we are so greatly humbled that God so bountifully loves us and is &#8220;mindful&#8221; of us (Psalm 8:3-9; Psalm 144:3). Let us as His people always give Him our utmost &#8220;praise&#8221; and &#8220;honor&#8221;!
