Dear Preacher,<\/p>\n
You often stress attendance at worship as important. But I think a fellow has a right to miss now and then. Please have me excused for the following reasons:<\/p>\n
Christmas<\/strong> – (It comes only once a year!) – 1<\/p>\n New Years<\/strong> – (I need to start off rested) – 1<\/p>\n July 4th<\/strong> – (National Holiday) – 1<\/p>\n Labor Day<\/strong> – (The Bible commands one day of rest!) – 1<\/p>\n Memorial Day<\/strong> – (1 state holiday) – 1<\/p>\n School closing<\/strong> – (Kids need a break at the beach!) – 1<\/p>\n School beginning<\/strong> – (Last chance of summer) – 1<\/p>\n Family Reunions<\/strong> – (1 for my family, 1 for my wife’s) – 2<\/p>\n Out-of-town games<\/strong> – (We support the team) – 5<\/p>\n Tournaments<\/strong> – (High school & college, tennis & golf – one each) – 4<\/p>\n Anniversary<\/strong> – (Our second honeymoon) – 1<\/p>\n Sickness<\/strong> – (1 for each family member) – 5<\/p>\n Business trips<\/strong> – (A fella must make a living!) – 4<\/p>\n Vacation<\/strong> – (Only 2 weeks, 3 weekends) – 3<\/p>\n Bad weather<\/strong> – (Ice, rain, snow, hail, etc.) – 5<\/p>\n Dallas Cowboy games<\/strong> – 4<\/p>\n Unexpected Company<\/strong> – (Can’t walk out, they didn’t bring church clothes!) – 2<\/p>\n Alarm clock didn’t go off<\/strong> – (not my fault!) – 2<\/p>\n Time change<\/strong> – (Spring forward, fall back – I never get that right!) – 2<\/p>\n House and car repair<\/strong> – (Who can afford plumbers and mechanics anymore?) – 3<\/p>\n “Special” on TV<\/strong> – (Continuing Education) – 1<\/p>\n Total 50<\/strong><\/p>\n So preacher, that only leaves two Sundays per year!
