Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>James is simply saying that Christians cannot be a friend of God and a friend of the world&#8217;s evil influences at the same time (Matthew 6:24 KJV; cf. John 15:19; John 17:14). Christians are &#8220;in the world&#8221; but not &#8220;of the world&#8221; (John 17:14-17).
