George Barna, founder and president of the Barna Research Group took a survey of American values and religious views across the United States. If we’ve ever doubted the effect that Satan has on our country, then please pay close attention to the following statistics quoted from Mr. Barna’s survey:<\/p>\n

Mr. Barna’s survey indicated that more than two out of three adults and more than four out of five teenagers argue that truth is always relative to the individual and the circumstances.<\/p>\n

Brethren and friends, it’s no wonder we have great difficulty in converting the younger generation. These young people agreed with the statement: “Different people can define truth in conflicting ways and still be correct.”<\/p>\n

Brethren, this is one of the most erroneous and deceptive doctrines that can be taught among men<\/strong>. Notice that this doctrine is not applied to anything other than religion. For example: in math, 2+2=4 and 2×6=12. These are absolutes that no one chooses to change. In science, our planet earth revolves around the sun. This is an absolute truth that no one denies. It is only in religion<\/strong> that Satan has managed to confuse men into thinking that they can’t know truth.<\/p>\n

The second statistic is just as alarming. It reveals that seventy-three percent of all adult Americans do not believe that Satan is a real being, but is simply a “symbol” of evil. Scripture warns us to beware of Satan and his ploys to overcome mankind (Matthew 13:38-39; Ephesians 4:26-27; Ephesians 6:12; 1 Peter 5:8; Revelation 12:9). Other passages tells us to resist Satan (James 4:7; 1 Peter 5:8-9). It is impossible to resist someone if we deny him to be real.<\/p>\n

The Barna Research Group also provides data which indicates that the spiritual maturity process should start at a young age (cf. Ecclesiastes 12:1; Ephesians 6:4; Genesis 18:19). Brethren and friends, if we don’t take the responsibility of teaching our children, grandchildren, and future generations God’s truth (John 17:17) and that God’s truth is absolute<\/strong> (Deuteronomy 6:1-2; Psalm 78:1-8; cf. Joel 1:1-3), the above percentages will only grow more disparaging. We must<\/strong> be willing to take the time to teach God’s truth, not only to a world enveloped in sin, but to our own children and grandchildren.<\/p>\n

If we do not teach them, they will be lost eternally. Do we really want that to happen? It’s past time to “awake out of sleep” (Romans 13:11) and get busy doing what the Lord said do (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15-16; Deuteronomy 6:1-2; Psalm 78:1-8; Ephesians 6:4).<\/p>\n
