Bible study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Twas the night before Christmas and as I looked round my tent,<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> I couldn&#8217;t believe all the money I&#8217;d spent<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> For trains and dolls, for trinkets and toys<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> Some for the girls and some for the boys.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>I looked round once more to be sure things were right;<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> The kids were all in bed for the night.<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> I set up the track for the train I bought Ted,<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> The train went round twice and the battery went dead.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>I put on my cap, my gloves, and my coat;<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> I went to Ames and over to Zayre.<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> You guess it my friend, no batteries there!<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> As I left the store a thought came to me,<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> I had one in the remote of the color TV.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Well, I placed that remote in my wife&#8217;s favorite chair<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> I was ready for Christmas with hours to spare.<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> When out came my wife and punched that remote<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> And then said to me, &#8220;The TV&#8217;s broke!&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>So on with the coat, the gloves, and the cap<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> Out in the cold about ready to snap.<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> I went to K-Mart and stood in that line<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> From 8:35 &#8217;til a quarter past nine.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>As I came to the checkout, my heart leaped with glee &#8212;<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> There was that one lonesome battery just waiting for me.<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> When from my behind I seen this hand slip<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> And grab that battery with a real tight grip.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>I wheeled around and what did I see?<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> This giant of a man glaring down at me.<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> Well, I remembered an ad I had seen on TV<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> Buy a Big Mac, get your batteries free.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>So, I bought me a burger I didn&#8217;t want&#8230;<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> They were out of batteries, so on with hunt.<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> I finally found one at Servi-Star,<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> Paid for my purchase and made for my car.<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> When I entered the door of my humble shack,<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> My wife said, &#8220;What&#8217;s this battery for I found in a sack?&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>I was out there in the press, the push, and the greed<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> To buy me a battery I didn&#8217;t even need.<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> At last I relaxed in my easy chair,<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> When this still small voice came out of somewhere.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>&#8220;You&#8217;re ready for Christmas with toys, tinsel, and tree<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> You&#8217;ve got it all together, but what about me?&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> I fell on my knees and cried, &#8220;God, what have I done?&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> I got caught up in the madness and neglected your Son.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The best gift of all you&#8217;ve given for free<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> Your Son, Jesus Christ, for sinners like me.<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> You sent Him to suffer the shame and the loss,<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> To shed his life&#8217;s blood for me on the cross.<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> Well friend, I&#8217;ll never forget ere I rest &#8216;neath the sod,<\/strong><\/em><br \/> <em> <strong> The greatest of gifts is given by God.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Adapted from a poem entitled, &#8220;Twas the Night Before Christmas&#8221;
