Many religious folks object to baptism for the remission of sins by saying that there is no power in the water. While it is true there’s no power in the water per se, were reminded that Jesus once healed a blind man by anointing his eyes and saying, “Go wash in the pool of Siloam” (John 9:6-7).<\/p>\n
The blind man certainly didnt object by saying, “Lord, there’s no power in the water” (see also Naaman in 2 Kings 5:1-14).<\/p>\n
He fully knew and understood that the power was of the Lord<\/strong>, and he had to fully obey the Lords instructions in order to receive the blessing of eyesight.<\/p>\n Thus, he promptly obeyed and received his sight (John 9:7).<\/p>\n Likewise, there is no power in the water of baptism. The power is of the Lord, but one must go “into” the water to receive the blessing of washing away one’s sins (Acts 8:35-39; cf.
