A wise leader uses a minimum of compulsion and a maximum of persuasion (2 Corinthians 5:11; cf. Acts 18:1-4; Acts 19:8).<\/p>\n<p>Most people resent and resist doing things they have to do, just because somebody else wants them to do them, yet nothing will keep a person from doing the things he wants to do and that which he believes ought to be done (Matthew 6:21).<\/p>\n<p>This is why it is important that we see the purpose in what is demanded of us (Isaiah 43:7; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20) and why that purpose must be worthy enough to command our best (Matthew 5:13-16).<\/p>\n<p>Power and authority may compel, but such things as honesty, goodness, purity, truth, and love invite (Philippians 4:8; 1 Corinthians 13).<\/p>\n<p>The issues of life are invitations which we may accept or reject.
