In Psalm 55:8-14, David writes about his dire circumstances in the form of violence, oppression, and strife, stirred up by the disloyalty of a friend. Fear, terror, pain, anxiety and restlessness overwhelmed him (Psalm 55:4-5).<\/p>\n

We can hear David’s sighing in Psalm 55:6 as he states, Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.<\/em><\/strong> Because of trials and tribulations in my life, there have been times when I would have relished the idea of flying to a remote island to get as far away as I possibly could from the pressures of life and the daily grind.<\/p>\n

But escape from reality is virtually impossible. We cannot evade the pressing problems of life. Like David, we can only give our problems and circumstances to God:<\/p>\n

\n

As for me, I will call upon God, and the Lord shall save me. Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice<\/em><\/strong> (Psalm 55:16-17).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Whatever the problems are that are pressing upon us we can thankfully give them to God. If He has lifted the burden of our sins (Hebrews 8:10-12; Hebrews 10:15-17; cf. Jeremiah 31:31-34), will He not lift the weight of our sorrows? (Matthew 11:28-30; cf. Psalm 38:1-4).<\/p>\n

If we have trusted Him with our eternal souls; can we not entrust our present circumstances to Him?<\/p>\n

\n

Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you<\/em><\/strong> (Psalm 55:22; cf. 1 Peter 5:7).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
