{"id":46427,"date":"2022-10-01T02:22:03","date_gmt":"2022-10-01T07:22:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/on-serving-two-masters-bible-study\/"},"modified":"2022-10-01T02:22:03","modified_gmt":"2022-10-01T07:22:03","slug":"on-serving-two-masters-bible-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/sermons\/on-serving-two-masters-bible-study\/","title":{"rendered":"On Serving Two Masters &#8211; Bible study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are often frustrated because we desire two mutually exclusive things: <strong>(1)<\/strong> evil pleasures and <strong>(2)<\/strong> a pure conscience; <strong>(1)<\/strong> idleness and <strong>(2)<\/strong> success; <strong>(1)<\/strong> a selfish life and <strong>(2)<\/strong> a reputation for generosity.<\/p>\n<p>From the Scriptures, we know that no one can successfully serve two masters (Matthew 6:24). One cannot long serve conflicting interests simultaneously.<\/p>\n<p>To advocate justice while deceiving our neighbor, is to compromise with principle for the sake of personal gain. To rationalize, is an attempt to make immoral or unethical practices conform to a sensitive and troubled conscience.<\/p>\n<p>We cannot ride in opposite directions at the same time nor can we straddle the fence indefinitely (1 Kings 18:21).<\/p>\n<p>We cannot serve God and mammon (Matthew 6:24).<\/p>\n<p>To experience a successful spiritual life here on earth, ones life must be integrated. This means that all of our inner forces must be coordinated and subordinated to the will of God (Isaiah 1:18-20; Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5; Ephesians 5:14-17; Colossians 3:1-3; cf.
